Chile's LED 2026 Education Leadership Award Announces 60 Finalists
Impulso Docente and the newspaper El Mercurio have revealed the 60 directors and headteachers selected as finalists for the fourth edition of the national LED 2026 education leadership award. The finalists were chosen from 1,243 nominations submitted by schools across all 16 regions of Chile, covering early childhood, primary and secondary education. A specialized jury, including past winners, will evaluate the candidates on innovation, impact, evidence, scalability and contribution to the education system.
The award will honor 30 winners, who will be announced on 24 August. A public ceremony is scheduled for 27 October in Santiago, where the laureates will join the LED Leaders Network. Bernardita Yuraszeck, executive president of Impulso Docente, said the large number of nominations demonstrates the strong commitment of Chilean educators to drive meaningful change in schools.
