Chile's Maule Region begins $4.65 bn subcomisaría project in Maule Norte

The first stone was laid for a new Carabineros subcomisaría in the northern part of the Maule commune, serving the Villa Francia sector and an estimated 21,000 residents.

The project costs 4,650,541,000 Chilean pesos, with the regional government providing 3,402 million pesos (about 73% of the total) and the remainder financed jointly by Carabineros and the national government. Governor Pedro Pablo Álvarez‑Salamanca said security is a priority for attracting investment, while presidential regional delegate Juan Eduardo Prieto called the construction a sign of the authorities' commitment to public safety.

The facility will occupy roughly 1,263 sqm and include public service areas, offices, dormitories, holding cells, a training yard and parking, equipped with modern technology and vehicles. Carabineros national personnel director Ariel Oñate noted the new building will improve police coverage and response times.
