Chile's medical schools hold health education events in Curicó and Viña del Mar

The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Talca organized a conference at Hospital Curicó on the oscillatory activity of the brain during anesthesia and sedation. The presentation, delivered by anesthesiology instructor Francisco Javier Flores, who also works at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, highlighted research on monitoring brain activity under anesthetic agents to improve clinical practice.

In Viña del Mar, medical students from Universidad Andrés Bello, acting through IFMSA UNAB, set up a “Orgullo Informado” stand at the Pride March. Led by student Isidora Campos Torres and supported by faculty members, the team offered interactive games and educational material on sexual and reproductive health, consent, healthy relationships and sexual rights, engaging dozens of march participants.

Both initiatives aim to bridge academic research and community outreach, enhancing public health knowledge and reinforcing the role of medical students in Chilean society.
