Chile's Minister Catalina Parot Announces 85 Hectares for Housing and Police School in Tarapacá

Minister Catalina Parot, head of the Ministry of National Assets, presented the 2026 Participatory Public Account in Tomé, outlining a strategic shift toward managing Chile's fiscal territory. She highlighted that the ministry oversees 33,358 fiscal properties covering about 42.4 million hectares—roughly 56 % of the nation’s land—and announced new measures such as a public‑tender‑first order, electronic dossiers, and remote monitoring to accelerate sales and regularisation.

In the regional balance for Tarapacá, Parot announced the transfer of 85 hectares to the housing agency SERVIU for emergency‑housing projects, alongside 8.4 hectares earmarked for a new Carabineros training school (including 6.2 hectares for the school itself) and additional land to improve border‑control infrastructure. Regional officials, including Noelia Garrido, said the plan will also target faster processing of irregular occupations, debt recovery, and new licences for strategic industries.
