Chile's Ministry of Health ranks hospitals, Arica hospital in top 10 while Copiapó falls below standard

The Ministry of Health's Subsecretaría de Redes Asistenciales released the 2025 Balance Score Card results for 62 public hospitals in Chile. Hospital Regional de Arica Dr. Juan Noé achieved an 84.4% score, placing it among the top ten hospitals nationwide and the highest‑ranked facility in the northern macro‑region. Subsecretary Julio Montt highlighted the result as evidence of improved financial sustainability, operational efficiency, network management and care quality.

In contrast, Hospital San José del Carmen in Copiapó recorded a 68.4% score, falling short of the 70% benchmark and joining 20 other hospitals that did not meet the standard. The evaluation, which measures financial sustainability, operational efficiency, network management and quality of care, identified 26 hospitals exceeding the 75% threshold, while Copiapó's performance was noted as needing improvement.
