Chile's Municipalities Forge New Partnerships for Local Development

The Chilean Association of Municipalities (ACHM) and the Fundación Minera de Chile signed a one‑year collaboration agreement to boost mining and energy education, training, employability and territorial linkage across municipalities. The pact was signed by ACHM president and Zapallar mayor Gustavo Alessandri Bascuñán, Fundación Minera president María Lucila Alarcón and Tierra Amarilla mayor Cristóbal Zúñiga. It will support programs such as municipal officer training, school fairs, educational and job fairs, and projects through the Academy of Mining and Energy of Chile.

In the community of Chonchi, the municipal government inaugurated a Community Care Center program under a new agreement with the Ministry of Development Social and Family. The ceremony at the CEDIAM was attended by mayor Fernando Oyarzún, programme coordinator Damaris Márquez and other local officials. The initiative provides training, emotional support and resources for unpaid caregivers of people with functional dependence, including children and the elderly, and will operate from the CEDIAM facilities.
