Chile's Posta Central Hospital Leads National Management Rankings

The Hospital de Urgencia Asistencia Pública, known as Posta Central, achieved a 91.1% compliance score in the Balance Score Card assessment, the highest result among the 62 high‑complexity hospitals evaluated nationwide. The scorecard, built on 29 indicators across financial sustainability, operational efficiency, network assistance and quality of care, is used by the Subsecretariat of Health Networks to identify strengths and gaps. Subsecretary Julio Montt highlighted the tool’s objectivity, while Health Minister May Chomali praised the sustained effort that raised the hospital’s performance since 2020.

In contrast, the Hospital Clínico de Magallanes recorded a 74.1% compliance rate, falling below the 75% minimum required for high‑complexity facilities. This follows a previous decline to 65.3% earlier in the year and a sharp drop in the Explicit Health Guarantees indicator. Local authorities linked the deterioration to administrative issues; the regional health director faced a resignation request, and the hospital must address corrective measures urgently as it approaches a critical reaccreditation process.
