Chile's 2025 Survey Shows Half of Workers Earn ≤ 680,000 pesos Monthly

The National Statistics Institute (INE) released the 2025 Income Supplementary Survey (ESI), finding that the average net monthly income for employed Chileans was 962,945 pesos, while the median was 680,000 pesos. This means 50 % of the workforce earned that amount or less, highlighting a pronounced income concentration at the top.

By gender, men earned an average of 1,062,864 pesos and a median of 701,985 pesos, versus 832,566 pesos average and 600,253 pesos median for women, reflecting a gender gap of roughly 22 %. The survey also detailed occupational differences: employers averaged 1,711,041 pesos, public‑sector employees 1,321,228 pesos, private‑sector workers 1,019,104 pesos, and self‑employed only 534,267 pesos. Education level strongly correlated with earnings; those with postgraduate studies averaged 2,650,573 pesos, while secondary‑educated workers averaged about 666,000 pesos.

Regionally, Antofagasta, Metropolitana and Magallanes posted average incomes above the national figure, ranging from 1,074,556 to 1,196,754 pesos. Overall, 29.4 % of workers earned over one million pesos monthly and 4.3 % earned three million pesos or more.
