Chile's provincial delegations respond to front-system damage

On Tuesday, presidential delegate Simón Recabal and provincial emergency chief Jorge Rojas inspected a wooden bridge that serves as the only vehicular access to Villa Las Dunas in Curanipe, Cauquenes province. The recent front system caused severe damage to the bridge, leaving about 30 families isolated and able to travel only on foot.

Recabal announced that a meeting with the Ministry of Public Works will be held to evaluate technical solutions, including the possible installation of a temporary mechanized bridge, to restore safe vehicle access as quickly as possible.

In Quillota province, presidential delegate Pilar Cuevas Mardones reported that 833 households—approximately 2,500 people—have been catalogued as affected by the same front system across five communes. Using the FIBE emergency registry, the provincial administration is targeting aid, and the national Recovery Bonus announced by President José Antonio Kast is being disbursed to families, many of whom suffered medium to severe damage, especially in the commune of Nogales. Vulnerable groups such as seniors and people with disabilities are receiving particular attention.
