Chile's Rancagua Diocese designates six jubilee churches for Virgin of Carmen centennial

The Diocese of Rancagua announced the designation of six churches as jubilee pilgrimage sites to mark the 100th anniversary of the coronation of the Virgin of Carmen as Mother and Queen of Chile. The decree, signed by Bishop Guillermo Vera Soto, aims to encourage the faithful to partake in the Year of Grace and Indulgence promoted by the Chilean Episcopal Conference.

The selected temples are: Parroquia Nuestra Señora del Carmen in Graneros, Parroquia Nuestra Señora del Monte Carmelo in Rancagua, Parroquia Asunción de María in Quinta de Tilcoco, Parroquia Nuestra Señora del Carmen in San Fernando, Parroquia Sagrada Familia in Palmilla, and the Sanctuary Nuestra Señora del Carmen y San José del Carmen in El Huique. Pilgrims who visit any of these sites, receive the sacraments and pray for the Pope’s intentions can obtain a plenary indulgence.

The celebration recalls the historic coronation of the image on 19 December 1926, a milestone in Chilean religiosity, and seeks to deepen spiritual renewal across the diocese through prayer, reconciliation and participation in the sacraments.
