Chile's Republican Party and Frente Amplio conduct internal elections in Ñuble
The Republican Party (Partido Republicano) held an electronic internal election on 8 August to choose its regional leadership in the Ñuble region. More than 900 party members voted between two competing lists. List 1, led by former constitutional council member Cecilia Medina, advocated continuity, territorial strengthening, and greater inclusion of women and youth. List 2, headed by former regional president Jorge Luis Sánchez, called for a change in regional management, increased local presence and new leadership.
At the same time, the left‑wing coalition Frente Amplio organized its own internal vote on 15‑16 August. In Ñuble the coalition agreed on a single joint list headed by Constanza Villalobos, with other candidates María Fernanda Rojas, Nelson Anabalón, María Carolina Cox and Carlos López, aiming to preserve internal cohesion ahead of upcoming regional contests.
