Sercotec rural water cooperatives solar funding Antofagasta entrepreneurship FNDR program

Sercotec announced a $150 million fund to install solar panels for five rural water cooperatives in the Valparaíso region (San Felipe, Hijuelas, Petorca, Cabildo and Olmué). The cooperatives serve more than 3,500 members and an estimated 17,000 residents, aiming to cut energy costs, improve competitiveness and increase resilience against power outages.

In the Antofagasta region, Sercotec began a separate FNDR‑financed program for entrepreneurs, micro‑ and small enterprises, guilds and cooperatives. The initiative offers several financing lines – Capital Semilla Emprende, Capital Abeja Emprende, Crece, Fortalecimiento Gremial and Fortalecimiento de Cooperativas – to support investment in assets, infrastructure, working capital and organisational strengthening. Regional director Ignacio León Cuevas said the program addresses pending demand from the 2024‑2025 calls and reflects the regional government's commitment to boost productive development.
