Spain's Independent Equality Authority AINODI Approved After Four Years

Fourteen NGOs forming the Alliance for the Equality Law celebrate the publication of the statute that regulates the Autonomous Independent Authority for Equality and Non‑Discrimination (AINODI). The statute was approved on 25 July in the Boletín Oficial del Estado, completing the implementation of the Integral Law for Equality of Treatment adopted in July 2022.

The organizations stress that AINODI must receive sufficient resources and that the sanctioning framework of the law needs reform, as the legislation has been consistently under‑applied. At a recent meeting, AINODI head Teresa Verdugo and representatives of the Alliance highlighted the authority’s crucial role in protecting victims of discrimination and urged the government to ensure its effective operation.
