Disaster Risk Management Trainings Roll Out Across Mexico, Chile and Peru

A series of disaster risk management and resilience trainings took place in Mexico, Chile and Peru. In Querétaro, Mexico, the Regional Forum focused on risk management, emergency coordination and resilient recovery after the 2025 floods. Fundacite Mérida organized a climate dynamics workshop to build scientific and community capacity for climate resilience in the Latin American region. The University of Concepción in Chile concluded its Emergency and Disaster Psychology course with a community intervention in Penco, supporting residents affected by recent wildfires. The Chilean regional government launched an unprecedented training for about 100 televigilance operators, covering disaster risk management, artificial‑intelligence tools and emergency software. In Querétaro, the state’s Social Development Secretary led the "Primeras Alertas" program to equip local peace promoters with first‑aid, fire‑prevention and emergency‑drill skills. In Peru, the Minister of Development and Social Inclusion coordinated the Disaster Risk Management Working Group to improve response for victims of a magnitude‑5.1 earthquake in Chupaca, focusing on beneficiary registration and inter‑agency coordination.

These initiatives illustrate a coordinated effort across the three countries to strengthen preparedness, institutional cooperation and community resilience against natural hazards.
