Chilgok-gun hosts art fair and Carol Town cultural festival

Chilgok-gun recently hosted two major cultural events aimed at supporting local artists and revitalizing the regional economy.

The Chilgok Culture and Tourism Foundation held the ‘2026 Chilgok Art Fair’ at Waegwan Station Plaza. The event featured exhibitions and sales by five local artists, including Kwak Ho-cheol, Park Dong-ju, Park Mi-jeong, Lee Taek-gyeong, and Jeong Mun-hyeon. The fair included flea markets, busking performances, and hands-on programs to encourage residents to engage with and collect local artworks.

Simultaneously, the Carol Town Festival was held in the Waegwan-eup Carol Town area. Themed ‘HOME AWAY FROM HOME,’ the festival served as a platform for cultural exchange between Korean residents and U.S. military personnel. The event featured diverse food offerings from local shops, including Korean and American cuisines, alongside various experiential programs and musical performances by local and international artists. Organizers expressed hope that these festivals would boost sales for local businesses and preserve the unique historical and cultural value of the Carol Town district.
