Chillarón and Cuenca brotherhoods sign historic twinning agreement

The Brotherhood of the Most Holy Christ of the Light of Chillarón and the Venerable Brotherhood of the Most Holy Christ of the Light of Cuenca have officially signed a historic twinning agreement. The ceremony, held at the parish church in Chillarón, involved the exchange of symbolic gifts, including a relief sculpture of a Christ bust by artist Tomás Bux and a commemorative embroidered painting.

The agreement establishes a commitment to mutual friendship, participation in liturgical and commemorative acts, and the promotion of joint devotion. This marks the first strict brotherhood twinning for the Cuenca-based corporation. Future plans include the Cuenca brotherhood attending the Congress of Advocations of Brotherhoods of the Light in Dalías and an invitation for Chillarón members to participate in the Good Friday procession in Cuenca.

Additionally, the agreement has brought historical clarity to Chillarón’s heritage. Documentation has confirmed that the Chillarón crucifix is not anonymous but is the work of Valencian sculptor Pío Mollar, dated to 1940.
