Chilliwack announces infrastructure upgrades and community events

The City of Chilliwack has announced upcoming infrastructure improvements and a variety of community events scheduled for October 2026.

Construction on Main Street and Yale Road is set to begin in October. The project involves replacing water, sanitary, and storm main systems, as well as reconstructing sections of Main Street. Improvements include new traffic signals at Spadina Avenue, enlarged curb bulges for pedestrian safety, new street trees, and ornamental lighting. While initial underground work starts this October, major concrete and asphalt work is expected in spring 2027, with a projected completion date in summer 2027.

Community activities include the fifth annual Orange Shirt Day Powwow at Chilliwack Secondary School on October 2-3, and Heritage Chilliwack’s ‘Uncovering Chinatown’ event on October 3. Other scheduled events include musical performances at Bozzini’s Upstairs Lounge and Evergreen Hall, as well as seasonal attractions at Fantasy Farms.
