Chilliwack to Host Canada’s First Freestyle Scootering BC Open on July 4
The inaugural BC Open freestyle scootering competition will take place at Chilliwack Landing Skatepark on the morning of July 4, 2026. It is the first Canadian event of its kind and is organized by the Roller Sports Canada (RSC) Scootering Division, a national governing body sanctioned by World Skate.
Riders from across Canada will compete in four divisions – Pro (18+), Junior 2 (14‑17), Junior 1 (10‑13) and Beginner (9 and under). Each competitor receives two 45‑second runs judged by three professional judges, and winners may qualify for future world‑level events. Registration opens on‑site at 9 a.m., followed by an Open Ride (9‑11 a.m.), the singing of the national anthem, a riders’ meeting, and the competitive heats beginning at noon. Spectators are welcome throughout the day.
Event organizer Erica Weight highlighted the national interest, noting that “there will be riders from all over the country attending.” Her 15‑year‑old son CJ is among the participants, underscoring the community focus of the new championship.
