Chilliwack launches employment readiness program for adults
The Horizon Employment Readiness Program is launching in Chilliwack, British Columbia, to assist adults facing significant barriers to employment. Delivered by Ruth & Naomi’s Mission, the initiative provides personalized support, employment-readiness training, and practical work experience to help participants gain stability.
The program is designed for adults aged 18 and older who face challenges such as housing instability, mental health issues, or substance use. It aims to support up to 90 individuals annually through workshops, one-on-one coaching, community work placements, and connections to essential health and housing services. Participants will also have opportunities to earn professional certifications, including first aid, WHMIS, FOODSAFE, and forklift operator licenses.
Funding for the program is provided through the Canada-British Columbia Workforce Development Agreement, with a total investment of nearly $1.3 million over two years by the federal and provincial governments.
