Chillán Viejo and Quilpué provide scholarships and certifications to hundreds of Chilean students

The municipality of Chillán Viejo announced the award of 399 municipal higher‑education scholarships for the 2024‑25 academic year. Recipients will receive a transfer of 210,000 Chilean pesos each, representing an investment of roughly 84 million pesos aimed at supporting youth and adult students enrolled in recognized universities, professional institutes and technical schools. Mayor Jorge del Pozo emphasized the municipality’s commitment to easing educational expenses and encouraging continued study.

In the neighboring city of Quilpué, the municipal government partnered with the State Technical Training Center (CFT) of the Valparaíso Region to certify 146 students from six technical‑professional schools. The certifications covered fields such as computer‑aided design, human resources, accounting, electronics, welding, construction, electrical safety, software, gastronomy, pastry, marketing, labour legislation and elder‑care. The ceremony was held at the Quilpué Municipal Theater, with comments from CFT director Félix Ortega Valencia and municipal human‑resources director Macarena Mellado highlighting the initiative’s role in enhancing job readiness.
