Chiloé authorities launch competition for new archipelago flag

Mayors of Chiloé and the Los Lagos Regional Government have officially launched a competition to create a new flag for the Chiloé Archipelago. The initiative aims to establish a participatory process to develop a symbol that represents the identity and unity of the various islands and communes within the province.

The project is supported by the Los Lagos Regional Government, the Chiloé Culture Network, and the Culture and Tourism Commission of the Association of Municipalities of Chiloé. Regional Governor Alejandro Santana noted that the symbol is intended to increase the visibility of the province both within the region and across the country. René Garcés Álvarez, Mayor of Quinchao and president of the Association of Municipalities of Chiloé, emphasized the need for a symbol that reflects the history and unity of the local communities.
