Chilquinta to issue electricity discounts following Valparaíso outages

Chilquinta has announced that electricity bill discounts resulting from extensive power outages in the Valparaíso Region will be reflected in September. The outages, caused by a weather system in mid-July, affected over 271,000 customers at their peak, with some families remaining without power for up to a week.

In addition to automatic regulatory compensations, the company is implementing an extraordinary measure for customers who lost food due to the interruptions. These compensations will start from $40,000 CLP. To access the base amount, customers do not need to present receipts, though larger losses may be evaluated individually via the company's website. Chilquinta accounted for 72% of the total customers affected by the prolonged outages in the region and is in discussions with the National Consumer Service (Sernac) regarding further compensatory agreements.
