Chimalhuacán hosts Mega Reciclatón collecting 45 tons of waste

The Government of the State of Mexico collected more than 45 tons of recyclable waste during the Mega Reciclatón event held in Chimalhuacán. More than 1,000 participants attended the initiative at Plaza Tepalcates, organized by the Secretariat of Environment and Sustainable Development (SMAyDS).

Participants exchanged various materials, including PET, paper, cardboard, aluminum, glass, Tetra Pak containers, and electronic appliances, for over 3,000 essential items. These goods included non-perishable foods, hygiene products such as shampoo and soap, and other household necessities like oil and clothing.

Alhely Rubio Arronis, Secretary of Environment and Sustainable Development, stated that the program aims to promote a circular economy and foster an environmental culture by helping citizens identify materials that can be reintegrated into productive processes. Additionally, the SMAyDS announced a collaboration with the CRIT State of Mexico (Teletón Foundation) to expand the reach of these recycling campaigns, with some collected materials being donated to support the treatment of children at the center.
