Chimalhuacán to build 37 km of safe walkways

The Chimalhuacán council, led by President Xóchitl Flores Jiménez, has approved modifications to the 2026 Annual Works Program (PAO) to include the ‘Senderos Seguros’ (Safe Paths) initiative. This project involves the construction of approximately 37 kilometers of safe walkways.

The initiative is part of the ‘Estrategia Operativa Zona Oriente’ and is funded through a coordination agreement between federal, state, and municipal governments. The project aims to improve quality of life and security by providing better lighting and safer routes for residents commuting to work or school, particularly at night. The approved paths will span various locations, including Arca de Noé, Circuito Chimalhuache, and Camino Viejo a Texcoco, among others.
