Chimborazo rural producers receive land titles and agricultural support

The Feria Agro Encuentros 2026 PIDARA was held in Riobamba, Chimborazo, to support female rural producers in family farming. Organized by the Ministry of Productive Economic Development (MDEP), the event focused on promoting food sovereignty and establishing direct commercial links between farmers and consumers to eliminate speculative intermediaries.

A key outcome of the event was the adjudication of 200 rural land titles to families in the Guano and Riobamba cantons, providing legal security for their crops. Through the Integral Project for Agro-productive Diversification and Agricultural Reconversion (PIDARA), authorities also distributed two mobile agro-productive units, 30 subsidized phytosanitary technology packages, and accreditation cards for local farmers.

The fair featured various products, including vegetables, highland coffee, honey, and Andean grains. Additionally, several recognitions were awarded, including 25 AFC Gender Seals, 2 AFC Agroecological Seals, and 41 recognitions for women in family farming. The event also included a Kulla Raymi ancestral ceremony to promote seed conservation and agrobiodiversity.
