China: 10 dead as torrential rains cause floods and landslides

Torrential rains in southwestern China have resulted in at least 10 deaths and caused significant destruction, including house collapses and a landslide. According to CCTV, authorities have proactively evacuated 21,784 people in regions such as Chengdu and Zigong.

In Sichuan province, five fatalities occurred after a roof collapsed due to accumulated rainwater, and a wall collapsed during a celebration for students' university entrance success. In Changning County, Sichuan, three people died in a residence, and two others passed away in a hospital while receiving treatment for injuries.

Heavy rainfall has also blocked roads in the mountainous areas of Garze and Aba. Additionally, authorities in Guangxi province are investigating a landslide at a construction site that trapped five individuals, who were recovered by rescuers unconscious.
