China accelerates AI-driven industrial development in Shandong and state-owned enterprises

Shandong Province announced the first batch of 100 "AI+ manufacturing" application scenarios and 100 vertical large‑model AI projects, covering areas such as generative design, smart scheduling, multimodal quality inspection and predictive maintenance. The province aims to build a full‑cycle ecosystem that links demand, intelligent product supply and precise matching, targeting a comprehensive industry‑wide AI model system by 2028.

At the national level, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission launched a "Scene Multiverse" action for central enterprises, unveiling ten flagship scenarios that span artificial intelligence, computing‑carbon synergy, green power generation and storage, and three‑dimensional design for mega‑hydropower projects. The initiative seeks to turn central enterprises' extensive real‑world operations into testbeds for emerging technologies, foster collaboration with small‑ and medium‑sized firms and research institutes, and drive high‑quality growth for state‑owned firms.

Both moves are presented as key steps to accelerate the commercialization of frontier technologies, create industrial ecosystems, and support China's broader strategy of integrating AI across the economy.
