China advances agricultural productivity through smart farming technologies

China is seeing significant advancements in agricultural productivity through the integration of new technologies and modernized farming practices across various provinces.

In Henan, farmers are utilizing water and fertilizer integration technology, such as drip irrigation, to enable high-density planting. This method allows for precise nutrient delivery to roots, which has helped increase wheat yields by over 100 jin per mu and corn yields by over 200 jin per mu. In Hejia County, digital tools including remote sensing, drones, and soil moisture sensors are being used to monitor crop growth and automate irrigation.

Across other regions, the harvest season is highlighting different technological benefits. In Heilongjiang, a full industrial chain for fresh corn has been established, integrating planting with deep processing. In Xinjiang, mechanized chili pepper harvesting has reduced costs to one-tenth of manual labor levels. Meanwhile, in Sichuan, the use of drones for transport and refrigerated container trains has successfully reduced pomegranate spoilage rates from 6% to under 3%.
