China Airlines launches Taiwan-Shonai charter flights

China Airlines has commenced a series of international charter flights connecting Taiwan to Shonai Airport in Yamagata Prefecture. This marks the second consecutive year for these charters, following successful operations last year.

A total of 18 flights (9 round trips) are scheduled to operate through November 19. The inaugural flight, carrying 169 passengers, was part of a tour organized by six Taiwanese travel agencies. The initiative follows discussions between Yamagata Prefecture officials and China Airlines earlier this year to promote regional tourism.

Local officials and representatives from China Airlines participated in a welcoming ceremony at the airport to celebrate the arrival of the first flight, which included the distribution of local souvenirs and promotional materials to tourists.
