China and Brazil expand educational and scientific cooperation

Educational and scientific cooperation between China and Brazil has reached new milestones through the launch of a specialized undergraduate program and a major regional innovation competition.

At São Paulo State University, the first Chinese language and culture undergraduate program in Latin America has officially commenced. Developed jointly by Hubei University and São Paulo State University, the four-year program utilizes “2+2” or “4+0” joint training models, allowing students to earn degrees from both institutions. The inaugural cohort consists of 40 students from across Brazil.

Simultaneously, the China International College Students' Innovation Competition (2026) concluded its first South American regional division at São Paulo State University. Organized by Harbin Institute of Technology in collaboration with local institutions, the event drew over 400 teams from prominent universities in Brazil, Argentina, and Chile. The competition focused on sectors such as agricultural technology, green energy, digital medicine, and artificial intelligence, awarding gold, silver, and bronze prizes to outstanding projects.
