China and Brazil leaders pledge high‑quality BRICS cooperation

On 27 July 2026, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva held a telephone conversation. The leaders highlighted the progress of the China‑Brazil "community of shared future" and agreed to deepen collaboration within the BRICS framework.

Both sides emphasized expanding trade, which has reached record levels, and cooperating in artificial‑intelligence, energy minerals and other high‑technology sectors. They reaffirmed support for multilateralism, the authority of the United Nations, and a joint stance against coercive politics, while pledging to coordinate closely on global governance issues.

The discussion also noted Brazil’s cultural‑year activities with China and welcomed further Chinese investment in Brazil, underscoring a broader push for diversified and mutually beneficial partnership.
