China and Brazil seek to strengthen strategic coordination

Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Celso Amorim, special advisor to Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, in Beijing to advocate for strengthened strategic communication and deeper cooperation between China and Brazil.

Wang emphasized the need for both nations to coordinate on international issues and work together to improve global governance. He stated that China and Brazil should lead the ‘Global South’ toward unity and self-sufficiency. Amorim noted that Brazil places great importance on its relationship with China, highlighting that the bilateral connection transcends simple trade and is increasingly significant amidst a volatile international landscape. China remains Brazil’s largest trading partner, with bilateral exchange reaching a record 171 billion in 2025.
