China and Dominican Republic seek to deepen diplomatic and economic cooperation
Diplomatic relations between the Dominican Republic and China are seeing renewed emphasis on cooperation and mutual development. Qiu Xiaoqi, the Chinese government's special representative for Latin America, stated in Beijing that China is prepared to collaborate with Dominican authorities to expand mutually beneficial cooperation and elevate bilateral relations.
Qiu noted that eight years of diplomatic ties have established political trust and practical cooperation across various sectors. He highlighted the importance of multilateral governance and the principle of sovereign equality between China and Caribbean nations.
In a separate initiative, Dominican Franklin Domínguez is promoting efforts to strengthen friendship and understanding between the Dominican Republic, China, and Ibero-American nations. Domínguez has proposed seeking recognition as a ‘Foreign Expert of Friendship with the Chinese People’ by 2027, aiming to foster intercultural understanding, peace, and human rights through dialogue and international cooperation.
