China and Indonesia reach new consensus at inaugural strategic dialogue

China and Indonesia have reached new consensus agreements during the inaugural China-Indonesia Comprehensive Strategic Dialogue (CSD) held in Jakarta. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Indonesian Foreign Minister Sugiono met to discuss deepening the strategic partnership and building a community with a shared future.

A key focus of the meeting was the continuation of the Belt and Road Initiative, specifically regarding the Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Railway. Both nations agreed that the project requires new strategies to ensure operational smoothness and long-term financing certainty, including exploring ways to increase passenger volume.

The two countries also decided to begin consultations on the Indonesia-China Action Plan for 2027-2031. They committed to maintaining strategic communication and supporting each other on core interests to align their development and security goals. Minister Sugiono noted that China's investment climate in Indonesia has received high praise from a prestigious Chinese rating agency, reflecting strong confidence in the Indonesian economy.
