China and Kyrgyzstan strengthen strategic partnership and economic ties

Chinese President Xi Jinping and Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov have reaffirmed the deepening strategic partnership between China and Kyrgyzstan. During a recent meeting and signing ceremony, the two leaders emphasized the goal of building a ‘close China-Kyrgyzstan community with a shared future.’

Economic cooperation remains a cornerstone of the relationship, with China serving as Kyrgyzstan’s largest trading partner and source of foreign investment. In 2025, bilateral trade reached a record 27.2 billion USD, representing a 19.8% year-on-year increase. Key infrastructure projects, such as the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway, are currently under construction to enhance regional connectivity.

Beyond trade, the two nations are collaborating on energy, healthcare, and education through initiatives like the Luban Workshop and various medical cooperation projects. On a multilateral level, both countries continue to coordinate within frameworks such as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the United Nations to promote regional stability and economic globalization.
