China and Pakistan call for diplomacy at UN General Assembly

At the 81st United Nations General Assembly, Chinese Vice President Han Zheng called for the immediate return of the Palestinian issue to a two-state solution path. He emphasized that resolving disputes should occur through dialogue and consultation, rejecting unilateral military actions that violate the UN Charter. Han also advocated for improved governance in the West Bank and post-conflict reconstruction in Gaza, stressing that such processes should be managed by Palestinians themselves.

In his address, Han also touched upon global technology, urging a human-centered approach to the rapid advancement of artificial intelligence to reduce the digital divide. Additionally, he called on the United States to end threats against Cuba and remove all sanctions and the blockade.

Separately, Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif addressed the assembly, urging Middle Eastern nations to choose diplomacy over conflict. He highlighted the economic risks posed by regional instability, specifically noting the importance of keeping the Strait of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb open as vital global trade routes. Sharif also called for the establishment of an independent, sovereign Palestinian state and condemned military actions in Lebanon and Syria.
