China and Romania report divergent trade trends in 2026
China's foreign trade has maintained a rapid growth trend, with the total value of goods trade reaching 34.78 trillion yuan in the first eight months of 2026. This represents a 17.6% increase compared to the same period in 2025. During this timeframe, exports were valued at 20.17 trillion yuan, a 14.6% increase, while imports rose to 14.61 trillion yuan, up 22%.
In Romania, official data from the National Institute of Statistics shows a trade deficit of 19.28 billion euros for the first seven months of 2026. While the deficit decreased slightly by 214.7 million euros compared to the previous year, the country continues to import more than it exports. Romanian exports totaled 58.27 billion euros, while imports reached 77.55 billion euros. The automotive and transport equipment sector remains a major component of trade, accounting for 46.2% of exports and 36.7% of imports.
