China and Serbia Activate Free Trade Deal, Cutting Tariffs on 90% of Goods

The bilateral free‑trade agreement between the People’s Republic of China and the Republic of Serbia has entered its active implementation phase after ratification in both countries. The pact removes import duties on more than 90% of tariff lines, covering key sectors such as automotive components, machinery, agriculture and textiles.

The tariff elimination is intended to lower costs for businesses, boost the competitiveness of exports, and encourage deeper corporate collaboration. Analysts expect the agreement to expand bilateral trade volumes, realign supply chains and serve as a model for future China‑Europe trade negotiations. It marks China’s first free‑trade deal with a Central and Eastern European nation.
