China and South Korea Boost Auto Exports in 2026
China became the third‑largest vehicle exporter to the Dominican Republic in the first five months of 2026, overtaking South Korea. Imports rose to 8,821 units, a 22 % increase from the same period in 2025, representing 15.5 % of total car imports and an average FOB price of $12,493 per vehicle.
South Korean automobile exports grew 5.8 % in June 2026, reaching a record $6.79 billion, driven by strong demand for electric and hybrid models. Shipments to North America, Latin America and the European Union rose 12.3 %, 5.1 % and 13.7 % respectively, while domestic production increased 11.6 % year‑on‑year to 394,210 units.
