China and Vietnam announce strategic cultural and tourism development plans

China's Ministry of Culture and Tourism has issued the ‘15th Five-Year Plan for Culture and Tourism Development’. The plan aims to advance the construction of a strong nation in culture and tourism by 2030. Key objectives include the deep integration of culture and tourism, the protection of cultural heritage, and the promotion of technological empowerment within these sectors. The plan outlines 54 major projects to ensure practical implementation and seeks to enhance China's national soft power.

In Vietnam, experts are highlighting new opportunities for cultural growth following recent central committee decisions. The strategic focus involves utilizing culture as an endogenous resource for sustainable development. Targets include increasing the cultural industry's contribution to GDP to 7% by 2030 and 9% by 2045. Discussions emphasize the importance of ‘cultural sovereignty’ in the digital age, the need for effective policy execution, and the mobilization of non-state resources to support cultural initiatives.
