China and Vietnam report significant foreign direct investment growth

China's foreign direct investment (FDI) stock reached 26.8 trillion yuan, marking six consecutive years of growth and ranking second globally. Foreign-invested enterprises contribute significantly to the economy, accounting for one-third of China's total import and export volume and one-seventh of national tax revenue. These companies also provide over 30 million jobs annually. Data indicates a shift in China's competitive advantage from cost and market scale toward supply chain depth and innovation ecosystems, with high-tech product exports from foreign firms growing by 42.1% in the first three quarters.

In Vietnam, FDI registered capital for the first nine months of 2026 reached $50.36 billion, a 76.4% year-on-year increase. Actual realized FDI reached $21.07 billion, the highest level for the same period in five years. Additionally, Vietnam's GDP is projected to grow by 9.01% during the first nine months of the year, driven largely by industrial and construction sectors, which grew by 11.21%.
