The deal, brokered through Hong Kong‑based Zhongqing Baoshang International Investment, expands Iran’s short‑range air‑defence inventory and has drawn criticism from the United States, with President Donald Trump warning of “big problems” for China if the sale proceeds. Separately, the ongoing conflict in Iran is raising concerns about the long‑term health impact on U.S. service members. Nearly 700 American troops have been wounded by drone and missile attacks, many sustaining traumatic brain injuries (TBIs).
