China-ASEAN Joint Investment Council launched by sovereign wealth funds

Sovereign investment institutions from China, ASEAN nations, and Azerbaijan have launched the China-ASEAN Joint Investment Council (CAJIC). The announcement took place during the 26th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) in Xiamen.

Convened by the China Investment Corporation (CIC) with CGS International Securities Pte. Ltd. serving as the Secretariat, the council acts as a sovereign-to-sovereign platform. It aims to connect capital, knowledge, and leadership through regular dialogues, annual forums, thematic research, and executive training programs.

Participating institutions include the Government Pension Fund (GPF) of Thailand, the Indonesia Investment Authority (INA), Malaysia’s Khazanah Nasional Berhad and Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (KWAP), and the State Oil Fund of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOFAZ). The initiative is designed to deepen mutual market understanding and develop a sustainable cross-border investment ecosystem between China and the ASEAN region.
