China commemorates Long March anniversary through diverse artistic works
Cultural initiatives in China are commemorating the 90th anniversary of the Long March through diverse artistic mediums. In Huamao Village, Zunyi, local entrepreneurs are revitalizing traditional papermaking techniques. Zhang Shengdi, founder of the ‘Huamao Renjia’ brand, uses seasonal plant materials to create pressed pulp flower art, turning an ancient craft into modern cultural products like stationery and home decor to support rural tourism and employment.
In Guangdong, a creative team led by the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts is finalizing a massive 3-by-7-meter traditional Chinese painting titled ‘Long March: Song of the Nanling Mountains’. The project involved nine months of research and field trips across Guangdong, Hunan, and Guangxi provinces to capture the historical essence of the Red Army's journey through the Nanling region. The artwork utilizes a three-stage aerial composition and a specific warm orange-red palette to evoke a ‘bloody dawn’ atmosphere, aiming to showcase the intersection of Lingnan landscape aesthetics and revolutionary history.
