China commemorates the historical significance of the Long March

The Long March is being highlighted as a monumental milestone in the history of the Chinese nation's rejuvenation. The journey, characterized by extreme environmental hardships and intense military combat, resulted in the establishment of a stable central leadership core centered on Mao Zedong following the Zunyi Conference.

Historically, the Long March facilitated a strategic shift of the Chinese revolution's center from the south to the north. This movement was driven by the Kuomintang's encirclement campaigns and the increasing threat of Japanese imperialist aggression. The successful conclusion of the march in 1936, marked by the meeting of the three main Red Army forces in Huining, allowed the Communist Party to emerge as a mature political and military organization.

In the modern era, the legacy of the Long March is being integrated with contemporary development. Recent infrastructure improvements, such as high-speed rail connections between Ruijin and Yan'an and the opening of the Jiajinshan Tunnel in Sichuan, are connecting historical revolutionary sites with modern transportation networks, supporting the revitalization of old revolutionary base areas.
