China condemns US measures regarding Xinjiang

China's Ministry of Commerce has issued a strong condemnation of recent measures announced by the United States Department of Homeland Security on October 28. Beijing denied allegations of forced labor in the Xinjiang region, asserting that ethnic groups there enjoy employment equality and legal labor protections.

The Chinese Ministry characterized the US actions as lacking factual basis, accusing Washington of using human rights concerns to implement unilateral protectionist policies and intimidation tactics. China also denounced new US restrictions targeting a Chinese company in the biomedicine and technology sectors, stating these moves undermine bilateral economic stability and contradict previous agreements reached by the two nations' leaders.

In response to the inclusion of numerous Chinese entities on US lists, Beijing has initiated formal procedures and adopted countermeasures. The Ministry emphasized that as a founding member of the International Labour Organization, China has ratified 28 conventions and maintains a comprehensive legal system to combat forced labor. Conversely, the Ministry noted that the United States has not ratified the 1930 Forced Labour Convention.
