China's cultural industries record 20.8 trillion yuan revenue in 2025
China's cultural and related industries reported a record operating revenue of 20.83 trillion yuan (about US$3.06 trillion) in 2025, up 8.8 % year‑on‑year, according to the National Bureau of Statistics. All nine cultural sectors posted revenue growth, with four sectors—creative design, content creation, news information services and cultural entertainment—showing double‑digit increases of 13.2 %, 12.4 %, 12.3 % and 10.7 % respectively. Total industry profit reached 1.9 trillion yuan, a 7.3 % rise, while R&D spending climbed to 182 billion yuan, up 12.1 % from the previous year. New‑business‑model sub‑sectors generated 7.67 trillion yuan, a 15.1 % jump, and new cultural‑industry models accounted for 36.8 % of overall revenue. Cultural services contributed 59.1 % of total revenue and drove 82.7 % of its growth.
