Guangdong Leads China in Banking and Insurance Metrics for H1 2026

The Guangdong Financial Regulatory Bureau reported that, for the first half of 2026, Guangdong province ranked first nationwide in all major banking and insurance development indicators. Total banking assets reached 43.99 trillion yuan and liabilities 42.7 trillion yuan, both up around 6‑7% year‑on‑year. Loan balances rose to 30.7 trillion yuan (↑5.05%) and deposits to 33.45 trillion yuan (↑4.04%). Insurance assets grew to 2.93 trillion yuan (↑9.67%) with premium income of 477.5 billion yuan (↑3.44%). Manufacturing loans climbed to 5.31 trillion yuan, a 13.45% increase and the fastest growth in two years. Export‑credit insurance underwriting amounted to 636.6 billion yuan, up 7.3%.
