China criticizes Taiwan's Han Kuang military exercises
China has officially criticized Taiwan's annual Han Kuang military exercises, labeling them a ‘pure farce’ and a ‘waste’ of public resources. The Chinese Ministry of Defense stated that the drills, which took place from August 5 to 14, exhaust the people and are driven by the Democratic Progressive Party's pursuit of independence.
In response to regional tensions, Taiwan's air force is reportedly developing a specialized combat drone unit. This new unit aims to shift from passive defense to an offensive strategy by using long-range drones and loitering munitions, such as the locally developed Chien Hsiang, to neutralize radar systems.
The tactical approach involves deploying mass swarms of inexpensive, disposable drones across the Taiwan Strait to force the People's Liberation Army to activate its radars, thereby creating windows for manned fighter jets like the F-16 to operate. The People's Liberation Army maintains it is in a state of constant alert to counter separatism and external interference.
