China criticizes US policy toward Cuba and Iran at UN
During a speech at the United Nations General Assembly, Chinese Vice President Han Zheng criticized the actions of a ‘relevant country’—widely understood to be the United States—regarding Cuba and the Middle East. Han called for an immediate end to the blockade and sanctions against Cuba, noting that the island's electrical grid recently suffered a total collapse.
Additionally, Han emphasized that the sovereignty and security of Middle Eastern nations, including those in the Gulf, must be respected. These remarks follow recent diplomatic developments in Washington, where President Donald Trump hosted Chinese leader Xi Jinping. During those discussions, the U.S. warned China against providing support to Iran, specifically following reports of missile launcher supplies and assistance in bypassing oil export sanctions. The U.S. ambassador to China stated that assurances were received that China would not provide such support.
